Tori was born and raised in China. She moved to the U.S. with her family in 2010. She started her nail career in 2014 as a licensed nail technician, worked in a nail salon just like many other Asian immigrants in this country.

With a strong interest in art, she became an artist at a nail art studio located in Soho called Paintbox in the summer of 2015. The Creative Director/nail artist there, Julie Kandalec, had Tori as one of her assistants at New York Fashion Week shows. With curiosity about the fashion and beauty industry, Tori expressed her gratitude and interest to continue assisting Julie for future shows and photoshoots. Later on she was passed on to more opportunities and expanded her network and that is how she started her path as an editorial nail artist in New York City.

Now Tori holds a BFA degree in Graphic Design and an AAS degree in Communication Design, freelancing in art direction and visual design for small/big brands, design studio and ad agencies in NYC. Her design work specializes in brand identity, digital and web design a diverse range spanning across varied industries. See her visual design work here.
